Non-musical history for today: 1983 – Saint Kitts and Nevis gained its independence from the United Kingdom. Saint Kitts is derived from a common nickname for Christopher, Kit(t). And Nevis was originally named Saint Martin (like we needed another one of those). Nevis or Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, means “Our Lady of the Snows”, a reference to the 4th-century Catholic miracle of a summertime snowfall on the Esquiline Hill in Rome. Why is it named that?
