Non-musical history for today: 1962 – The first of the James Bond film series, based on the novels by Ian Fleming, Dr. No, was released in Britain. The budget was so small ($1M) that the leather on the doors was actually plastic. The paintings in M’s office were cardboard, and sets were built at Pinewood Studios while the crews were away filming in Jamaica. It’s amazing it got made at all, much less to the degree that it was successful.
Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for October 5.
Recorded in the Omniverus Podcast Studios at Liberty Plaza.
