Non-musical history for today: 1982 – Ray Mancini defeated Duk Koo Kim in a boxing match held just outside of Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. The bout went into the 14th round and after referee Richard Green stopped the match awarding Mancini the TKO, Kim collapsed into a coma and died from his injuries five days later. This incident led to changes in organized boxing, including reducing the number of rounds in championship bouts from 15 to 12.
Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for November 13.
