Non-Musical history for today: 1894 – The Stanley Cup ice hockey competition was held for the first time in Montreal, Canada. The Montreal Hockey Club defeated the Ottawa Hockey Club 3-1 in a single elimination championship game. The cup was awarded the year before to the MHC just for being the league winners.
