Non-musical history for today: 1861 – Alexander H. Stephens gave the Cornerstone Speech. This idiot, who happened to be the Vice President of the Confederacy at the time, used the word “cornerstone” to describe the “great truth” of white supremacy and black subordination upon which secession and the Confederacy were deemed necessary. So, to anyone who wants to argue that the Civil War wasn’t about slavery… well, first read the articles of succession from Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, and others; they all said it WAS about slavery. But, even beyond that, you have Stephens here, who defended slavery as a fundamental and just result of the SUPPOSED inferiority of the black race. This makes my blood boil.

Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for March 21.

Recorded in the Omniverus Podcast Studios at Liberty Plaza.
