Non-Musical history for today: 1977 – JVC introduced its VHS videotape at the Consumer Electronics Show in Chicago. It will eventually prevail against Sony’s rival Betamax system in a format war to become the predominant home video medium. From what I hear, Betamax was better than VHS, the best I can tell. I had a Betamax VCR for about 2 weeks. It was too difficult to find blanks. It’s like Apple vs. Microsoft.
