Non-Musical history for today: 1776 – American Revolutionary War: Thomas Hickey, Continental Army private and bodyguard to General George Washington, was hanged for mutiny and sedition. He was arrested for passing out counterfeit money and was overheard in prison admitting to a planned defection to the British, and while unproven, there was a theory he was involved in a planned assassination plot against General Washington.
