Beeswax Vinyl Daily June 2, 2024

Two non-musical history items for today: 1692 – Bridget Bishop was the first person to be tried for witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts; she was found guilty and later hanged. Doesn’t sound too witchy. I’d have thought Brumhilda or something like that.
1763 – Pontiac’s Rebellion: At what is now Mackinaw City, Michigan, Chippewas captured Fort Michilimackinac by diverting the garrison’s attention with a game of lacrosse, then chasing a ball into the fort. I find this amazing. Both the ingenuity of the natives and the fact that Lacrosse was around at the time. In fact, lacrosse is the oldest organized sport in North America, created based on several games by Native American tribes as far back as 1100AD.

Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for June 2.

Recorded in the Omniverus Podcast Studios at Liberty Plaza.
