Non-Musical history for today: 356 BC – The Temple of Artemis in Ephesus, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, was destroyed by arson. I find the “Seven…” to be fascinating. In the beginning, because the concept was from the limited knowledge of the world at the time, all the Wonders were around the Eastern Mediterranean, encompassing Western Asia, Southeastern Europe, and North Africa. The fire was set by Herostratus, a man looking to get famous. If you’ve heard of the term herostratic fame, it was named after him. It means to commit a crime for the purpose of being famous.
Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for July 21.
