Beeswax Vinyl Daily February 2, 2024

Non-musical history for today: It’s Groundhog Day, of course. It’s Groundhog Day, of course. It’s Groundhog Day, of course. It’s Groundhog Day, of course. It’s… we get it, Ned Ryerson. We get it. The Groundhog Day celebration is rooted in a Celtic and Germanic tradition that says that if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on February 2, the pagan holiday of Imbolc, known among Christians as Candlemas, winter and cold weather will last another six weeks. Here’s the thing… February 2 until March 21 (equinox/start of spring) is SEVEN weeks. So, winter would last six weeks anyway.

Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for February 2.

Recorded in the Omniverus Podcast Studios at Liberty Plaza.
