Non-musical history for today: 1865 – President Abraham Lincoln signed the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. This abolished slavery and involuntary servitude, except as punishment for a crime. It has also been invoked to empower Congress to make laws against modern forms of slavery, such as sex trafficking.
