Non-Musical history for today: 1942 – World War II: US Navy L-class blimp L-8 drifted in from the Pacific and eventually crashed in Daly City, California. The two-man crew cannot be found. They still haven’t been. The L-8 was part of the Goodyear fleet before the war and after its crash, was repaired, and resumed its Goodyear duties over sporting events until its retirement in 1982. At that point, it was repainted the colors of the L-8 and is in the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida.
