Beeswax Vinyl Daily April 7, 2024

Non-musical history for today: 1449 – Felix V abdicated his claim to the papacy, ending the reign of the final Antipope. Do you know what an Antipope was? It’s just what it sounds like. An antipope was a person who claimed to be Bishop of Rome and leader of the Catholic Church in opposition to the legitimately elected pope. Between the 3rd century and this date, antipopes were supported by factions within the Church itself and secular rulers. I am so anti-organized religion it’s not even funny, but I find all this fascinating.

Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for April 7.

Recorded in the Omniverus Podcast Studios at Liberty Plaza.
