Non-Musical history for today: Just after 10a on this date in 1978, 51 construction workers fell to their deaths, along with metal and concrete, in Willow Island, West Virginia. Cooling systems were on a scaffolding that was mounted to concrete that hadn’t had enough time to properly cure, causing it to give way and send the workers tumbling downward. It is considered the deadliest construction accident in U.S. history.
