Beeswax Vinyl Daily April 25, 2023

Non-Musical history for today: Oliver Cromwell, a very polarizing figure in English history, was born on this day in 1599. He ousted (and had a hand in the execution of) King Charles I of the Stuart monarchy. When he died in 1658, he was buried at Westminster Abbey. After reassuming the throne for the Stuart monarchy, King Charles II had Cromwell’s body exhumed and his head placed on a spike in front of the London Tower. It stayed that way, so I have read, for 30 years before he was reburied in Cambridge.

Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for April 25.
